White passing Louisiana Creole here. Been to a few SURJ events and they just didn't feel right but I couldn't find the words to wrap around it. Thought maybe it's because they are mostly middle class able bodied folks (which I'm neither), and maybe that's part of it. But now I see it full-on, thanks to your words here. Yes Indeed!!

I especially like what you said about working with pre-existing white spaces such as home, work, and neighborhood. So I'll just keep on educating myself, holding doors open, and collecting my cousins, and leave those hoity-toity folks A-LONE!
