Yeah, you can say whatever if you want, although freedom of speech has nothing to do with it. (That just means that you can’t go to jail for what you say, not that there are no consequences.)

However, right now our society is in a crisis, and it’s important that we all listen to each other with all of our minds and hearts. Some people are so fed-up with not being heard that they’re taking it to the streets. Haven't you ever felt ignored and treated unfairly angry over it? What would you have preferred, that the other person ignore you some more, or strike back at you, or that you could sit down and talk it out honestly and respectfully?

It’s the same here, only it’s happening on a civic scale rather than a personal scale. People are so fed-up over not being heard, that they’re taking it out on the streets. And some people think the solution is to crack down with riot police. But the solution is not more violence; it’s more listening.

No one is accusing you, personally, of wrongdoing. However, our society is built on some serious wrongdoing, and we’re now facing a reckoning. We can either go through the reckoning the easy way or the hard way. The easy way is to sit down and listen to the injured party, and work out ways to repair and reconcile the effects of slavery and genocide. The hard way — well, we’re starting to see it, and, as we’re being warned, it can get a lot worse. So say “whatever” if you like, but be prepared for the consequences.
