Who would pay for all those guns that teachers would have to carry? Would the teachers be paid for their time on the shooting range? Would the teachers receive post-traumatic counseling to deal with the fact that they have killed someone? What if the teacher misses and hits an innocent student? What if the teacher has philosophical or religious objections to shooting someone?
Teachers are in short supply. If we made every teacher do double duty as a security guard, fewer people would be willing and able to serve as teachers.
Why not remove the loopholes and enforce the laws about who can have a weapon and what they're allowed to do with it? Follow the example of every other developed country that does not have this problem. That would be better than adding additional burdens on teachers.
