"Wakan" is a Lakota word meaning "Holy." Their word for God -- "Wakan Tanka" transliterates as "Greatest Holy." This is one of the few words in that language that many non-Native people have heard of, due to cultural diffusion and appropriation.

So "Wakanda" may bring subconscious association with influential holy people and beautiful indigenous folks in natural settings. At least that's what came to my mind when I first heard of it.
