Truth. My mother was in an abusive marriage like that. My father (RIP) had anger management problems and my mother's response would be to sit on the couch and pray the Rosary or recite her marriage vows. Sometimes, when things got really bad she'd say, "I'm gonna leave," but she never did. He passed away about ten years ago. My mother is still alive and she never mentions him.
