Trump won because of our addictions. His followers' addictions are plain to see in all of their grotesquery.

Yet those of us who oppose him are addicted as well -- to our rage, our disgust, and now to our pain and disappointment. His followers ate this up and became strong. And now, they're feasting.

Indeed, one of their main motives is to "own the libs." They roll coal out of spite for Mother Earth and those who love her. They wear outrageous costumes featuring maxi-pads, diapers, and the emblems of despotic nations that our ancestors defeated in war. They desecrate the flag of our country with routine violations of the Flag Code and transform words such as "deplorable" and "garbage" into badges of pride.

We who opposed him fed his supporters with our outrage, and they became strong on this dense, high-energy fuel. And for now, they won.

And they're still feasting on our outrage. I hear they're harassing Black kids with disturbing text messages and telling women, "Your body, my choice." In 2020, they were sore losers; now, they're sore winners.

Maybe it's time to starve the Beast.

Sometimes, addicts have to hit bottom. In this election, our society seems to have chosen that route.

Buckle up, folks. It's going to be a rough ride.
