This is purely speculative but many believe the billionaires aboard would not have empathy for others in equally dire straits, that they did not place themselves in, or that they wouldn’t lift a hand to help them.
Of course -- as Honore de Balzac wrote: Behind every great fortune lies a great crime. These people built their fortunes on price gouging and worker exploitation. They even factor this into their ROI calculations -- a human life is worth $X so the loss of human life is justified in their minds if a certain number of lives are lost.
