There are two kinds of christians: the Great Commandment folks and the Great Commission folks.
The Great Commandment folks understand that the most important thing is to love God with all one's heart, mind, and might and to love one's neighbor as oneself for the love of God. These understand that they are not and never will be perfect, and strive to live by love. We don't hear much from these people because they don't go around talking about their religion; instead, they live it. Some of these folks don't even identify as christian because that brand is toxic. I've seen atheists and pagans who follow Christ's teachings better than those who go around preaching.
The Great Commission folks think going out and making converts is the most important thing. They are motivated by fear, live in fear, and strive to spread this fear to others. Many think they're perfect because they're "saved" and their sins are washed away with God's blood, which is pretty gross if you think about it. Unfortunately, we hear a lot from these people -- and they're why their brand is so toxic.
