The "Wednesday" show? Had to google that -- the show about teenage Wednesday Addams?
Thanks for clarifying. This is not about regional / ethnic accents, or even about people proximate to each other subconsciously picking up each other's speech patterns due to mirror neuron activity.
It's about influencers deliberately copying AAVE words and phrases in order to sound cool and make money. Madonna imitating Black music and style for decades, and now plumping up her lips with collagen and calling-out Cardi B et al, saying Black female pop singers owe her (Madonna) rather than the other way around. It's about white rockers -- The Beatles, Elvis, Mick Jagger, etc -- stealing songs and styles from earlier R&B stars, without even so much as an acknowledgement let alone a share of royalties. It's about corporate advertising co-opting Black language and style in their ads, garnering attention, raking in the cash, and giving nothing in return.
It's a different vibe. The first things sound / feel real. The second things sound / feel fake.
