The GOP is not a monolith. About 20% are classic conservatives who oppose TFG because he is willfully ignorant and grossly unqualified. These are the never-trumpers one hears about sometimes. (Some people call them RINOs, but that slur better suits the MAGA crowd, IMO.) It seems reasonable to me that a never-trumper would attempt a 2A solution. Isn't that what many people say the 2A is for?
