Thanks for this wonderful memory! I think there's something in my eye ...

I remember hearing from another white person about how, when Black people moved into town, her family picked up and moved in a hurry. The way she described it, it sounded to me almost like evacuating from a hurricane or a wildfire. This made a great impression on her. She struggles to this day with a phobia of Black people even though she knows full well that it's an irrational fear.

Like the old song says -- you got to be carefully taught.
