Just yesterday I got into a conversation with my brother about the recent slander against Haitians eating forbidden meat. He thought it was a widespread trend. I told him the origins of that rumor -- that a USA-ian woman tried to eat a cat on a dare but couldn't deal with the nasty taste of carnivore flesh. And maybe people have eaten things that they would not ordinarily eat during famine times. But as a trend, folks in the Carribean enjoy pretty much the same types of meat as we do -- chicken, fish, etc. He was genuinely surprised. He was convinced that immigrants routinely eat forbidden meat. And there's lots of other people out there like him, so we got a lot of work to do.
