Thanks for reading and for the encouragement!

Yeah, auto-tune is a problem. I'm recording more in my makeshift home studio and getting hung up on all the little vocal glitches I hear in playback. I tell myself that even the greatest singers probably had little glitches prior to auto-tune, and nobody notices these but the musicians and the sound engineers. Still, it bugs me and slows down my work. Just threw away a bunch of pretty decent tracks on the next song I'm working on, because I couldn't get the glitches out. I don't have autotune, it's too expensive and I really don't like what it does to the natural voice. Maybe I ought to cave and get it anyhow?

I hear what youre saying about the folk genre -- it helps if you can carry a tune, although Dylan couldn't even do that! Leonard could carry a tune, although his range was limited -- he was popular anyhow because of his lyrics and vibe. But it's not necessary to be a trained singer (or to use autotune?) because the real power in that genre is in the lyrics and the storytelling.

Getting my music out there is another hurdle. This post, and my soundcloud and youtube sites, have received only a handful of visits. Any suggestions?

Here's a link to my facebook page. Justin Olhipi is my pen name, you'll see my real name there.
