It is also true that some depictions of indigenous people from Central America show broad flat noses. This is known as the "tropical nose", because it works well in hot humid climates. I've seen people from Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands with similar noses. And people from mountainous regions such as Ethiopia and South Africa may have narrow peaked noses because that nose shape works better in thin air.
