Questions for White Women
I see a lot of white women saying they're afraid of Black men and seen how this gets Black men in trouble, sometimes gets them killed.
Growing up, my father and grandfather tried to make me afraid of Black men, but it didn't stick. I'm autistic, so social conditioning doesn't stick with me very well so eventually they had to make it explicit. By the time they made it explicit, I knew it was just hateful nonsense. Growing up in New Orleans, there were plenty of Black people around and they never bothered me. On the other hand, white kids bullied me every day. My white father's anger management issues kept me in a state of constant terror. White people had given me far more reason to be afraid than Black people had.
We need to get to the bottom of this fear, challenge it, uproot it. Too many Black men have died, are dying, because we were lied to, taught to be afraid.
Let's talk ...
Why are you afraid of Black men?
Who told you to be afraid?
How did they tell you?
Did you believe it right away, or did it take some convincing?
Did you ever feel attracted to a Black man, whether for friendship, or more?
If so, how did your family react?
Have you been hurt by men?
How many of the men who hurt you were Black?
How many of the men who hurt you were white?
