Coups, Burning Books, and Drag Queens — Oh My!
Friends, Dems, and Countrymen! Hashing things out with a GOP concern troll! Grab some popcorn and get comfy!
" Please cite where ANYONE is suggesting burning books..."

" both sides want to control marriage,..."
Can you give examples of how progressives have prevented people from marrying?
"...and ban performing artists..."
This is a bit sticky. Do you mean banning artists in one's own space (e.g., Kid Rock would not be welcome to perform at an LGBT+ coffee house) or in public spaces (e.g., outlawing pride parades and drag queens)? The former would be okay, but the latter would not.
"Please cite where "my guy" (no, Trump was not my first choice, "
So Biden was your first choice? Is this why you're complaining? I doubt it. And the former president is your choice now, I take it? It seems that way.
And if the former guy is your choice now, you lied in your first message when you said you were a Democrat. In that case, you are not carrying out this discussion in good faith. Ordinarily, I would end this discussion here. as I don't usually waste my time on people who lie about who they are. But your questions are interesting enough that I'll address a few more for the benefit of those still sitting on the fence.
"Please cite where "my guy"...told people that voting for him means they'd never have to vote again."
It was at Turning Point Believer’s Summit in Florida. Here's one source:

If you don't like CNN, you can also find references to his statement in Christian media, for example:
" I see them using the most undemocratic means, implementing a coup to effectively neutralize the elected president and replace him with their choice of leader, and then talk about saving the Constitution and Our Democracy. "

"(also coup d'état) a sudden, illegal, and often violent change of government."
Biden stepped down voluntarily because he realized that he did not have the energy to win the election while simultaneously carrying out his duties as president. Sure, it seemed sudden -- yet, it was neither illegal nor violent.
Moreover, his withdrawal from the campaign did not signal a change in government because no opponent party seized power. Instead, Biden assigned the campaign to his second-in-command. She belongs here. He chose her as her running mate. We accepted that choice and voted for both of them when her name appeared beside his on the ballot in 2020. We don't need your crocodile tears.
Although he relieved himself of his campaigning duties, Biden is still active as president. He just got Russia to release 4 US citizens. He is working on a 2-state approach to peace in the Mideast. He proposes reforming the Supreme Court with term limits and enforceable ethics guidelines. He is far from "neutralized."

On the other hand, can you explain why Jan 6 was not sudden, illegal, or violent? Granted, it was an attempt to retain the previous administration rather than change the government. However, this event was an attempt to violate the constitution by preventing the peaceful transfer of power, so in that sense, it could be seen as an attempt to change the government by illegal means.
The event consisted of unruly crowds, the display of symbols of the CSA and the Third Reich (both defeated enemy nations), calls to murder the VP to prevent him from carrying out his constitutional duty to certify the election, unsupported charges of election fraud, vandalism to federal property, including defecating (!?!?!) on the walls, etc. Many people were injured, and a few even lost their lives. How is this not a coup? Only because they failed?
"American (sic) needs good alternatives. I wish the Democrats would provide one."
We just did. Harris has gained a lot of support from our party and is outpolling the former guy by significant amounts.
She has 86% support from her party and 51% from independents. In fact, 20% of Republicans view her favorably -- about the same proportion as the classic conservatives / never-trumpers in the party.

Sure, Ms. Harris is not perfect either—she's human, after all. Some people don't like the fact that she is a female, a person of color, dated another public official some years back, and served as an AG ("cop"). There may even be a few sourpusses who don't like her because she laughs. This accounts for the 14% disapproval from our side of the aisle.
Still, 86% isn't too shabby. So how about you drop your fake concern about our house and work on cleaning up your own? Your guy barely squeaked by past Nikki Haley in the primaries and is losing steam with the crazy stuff he says daily. People are walking out on his rallies. He just got booed off the stages at the Libertarian convention and the National Association of Black Journalists.
In the wake of his assassination attempt, some Christians are pointing to his narcissistic boasts and his recovery from a head wound and speculating that he's the obnoxious "little horn" in the Book of Daniel -- or maybe even the Antichrist. (Google this and you'll see.)
Meanwhile, his mini-me JD turns out to be a self-inflicted bullet to the foot. The real Appalachians are calling foul and fraud, and many of the rest of us think his opinions sound like something out of Medieval times. And you can't even call for a do-over; you're stuck with him!
So ... How about you keep your nose out of our business and call for a cleanup on your side of the aisle? It's getting pretty nasty over there—and not just from your guy's diapers.
Over and out!
