On a related note -- popular music. Many classic rock standards were Black music first. When I found out about how the Beatles stole a lot of their early hits from Black musicians, I lost all respect for the Beatles, even though they had been my childhood heroes. Elvis did it too, although I was never a fan of his. Black people invented rock/n/roll for goshsakes!
I'm an amateur musician, enjoy performing at open mic night. I do a mix of classic rock and originals. Whenever I do a song that's not an original, I tell the original author's name and the story behind the song. Often this amounts to a mini-lesson in Black history, which is really American history. Then I say "We got to stop plagarizing, ya'll!" Hoping to start a trend, that other musicians will do likewise. Crediting sources is not "PC" or "SJW" or whatever. It's simply the right thing to do.
