No one is perfect, that's part of being human. However, this article isn't about stuff that Black folks need to improve on. You won't see an article like that in a public forum, because that's what may be called 'family business.'

Your questions at the end are really a deflection from the point of this article -- stuff we do unthinkingly that betrays our unconscious racist biases. So, rather than get defensive, why not look at oneself, see if one has done any of these things, and then -- most importantly -- examine the implicit biases that lead to these actions.

Recognizing and challenging one's own unconscious biases is the key to avoiding racist behavior. If we simply try to follow a list of "do's and don'ts" this just leads to frustration and paralysis -- what white folks express when we say things like "I'm afraid of saying the wrong thing these days," "It seems like we can't do anything right anymore." etc. But if we examine and dispel the underlying biases that lead to racially problematic behavior. we can get a handle on dismantling racism at the individual as well as systemic level.
