Love makes all the difference! With a loving family, a child can take on the world; without that, all the money in the world can't buy happiness.

I was raised in a very racist family, saw and heard some awful things from my male elders. Reacted to it by developing woo-woo positive biases about everybody else (BIPOC people are the lost tribes of Israel, and Black folks are the Royal Tribe of Judah!) and negative biases against my own people (we were bred by a mad scientist named Yakub and carry the Mark of Cain! ). I know that's all nonsense, there's good and bad in everyone, that's what makes us human. But I saw my male elders (RIP) do and say some awful things therefore white = evil, QED. Early conditioning is tough to shake.

What do you think of Robin DiAngelo? I think that's where I first got that toxic idea that you called me out on earlier. You've suggested (if I'm reading you right) that a child raised with a strong foundation will not be so affected, and will instead realize that the person clutching their purse or crossing the street is only casting a bad reflection on themselves. I've also seen criticisms of her work, such as this:

Thanks again -- Just an old hippie
