I'll answer this comment but don't think I want to continue this conversation, as you seem to be being deliberately obtuse.

The article is not about a plant based diet. That's affordable and feasible. Many diets are about 80% plant based with about 20% animal sourced foods and people do well on that.

This article is about veganism. That means no milk, no eggs, and no meat, ever. It generally requires specialty foods from high-end grocery stories -- eg, "organic" foods grown without synthetic chemicals, "milks" made from nuts and seeds, as well as various vitamins and supplements to make up for certain micronutrients that are not available in common plant-based foods.

I didn't say women don't cook meat. I'm talking about how the beans and pulses you cite often require extensive cooking time and labor as compared with animal-derived foods. That's fine if you have a stay at home partner who devotes a lot of time to meal prep, but not if you're working and alone, or you and your spouse are both working. Have you ever cooked an egg or a hamburger? Have you ever cooked a pot of beans? What's more readily available -- hamburgers or tofu? For that matter, have you ever made tofu? Think about these things and then maybe you'll know what I'm talking about.

Take a cue from the animal kingdom. Herbivores have to spend most of their time eating in order to get the nutrients they need. Carnivores and omnivores can get what they need with a lot less time and effort. When our primate ancestors learned to hunt in bands and cook our food, this freed up a lot of time and energy with which we could become human and develop the arts of civilization.

In your first message you suggested that I want to guilt-trip those who can afford to eat specialty foods, while I said nothing of the kind. In your next message you conflate plant-based with vegan, and pretend not to know how much work is involved in obtaining and cooking various types of food. I don't think you're really that obtuse. I think you're just trolling. Have a nice day.
