Who brought up "Indigenous culture"?

I don't think I used the term "Indigenous culture." I'll look over my previous posts, edit them, and credit you if I have done so. But I don't think I would say that because I know that there is not just one Indigenous culture -- there are thousands, maybe millions. And I agree, some of them do things like child marriage, FGM, honor killings, etc, that would make us modern Westerners squeamish. Just like we do things that would make them squeamish. (An Iroquois friend told me that her ancestors were horrified at the way settlers treated their children.) But that's neither here nor there and I don't see why you would bring that up in this discussion.

Anyhow, we weren't talking about "Indigenous culture." We were talking about Indigenous peoples (plural) and their cultural and intellectual property rights. And how is a Mexican guy sharing medicine with visitors who need it any different from a white guy in Sedona who ran a fake sweat lodge where people died?

That's when you deflected to the claim that nobody calls themselves "indigenous" and then on to "Indigenous culture" with a side helping of the horrible things Those People do and Isn't Political Correctness Silly?

I agree. If you're visiting another culture and talking with the locals, they're not likely to call themselves Indigenous; instead, they'll say Cree, Sami, Han, etc. But if you're on social media and interested in learning about other cultures and perspectives, you'll find people identifying as Indigenous and willing to share their points of view. Words used on social media are different from words used when visiting people in their homes.

If you think identifying as "Indigenous" on a worldwide public forum is funny or suspicious, I encourage you to search this site, find a content creator who identifies as "Indigenous," and tell them how funny or fraudulent you think they are. (No, I won't suggest anyone. I wouldn't do that to my friends. You can find them with a search. ) Then you can get back to me and let me know how it went.

I'll go make coffee. I won't reply to any more of your posts until you do this.
