I don't generally watch movies. As an autist, I have a hard time following the dialogue and keeping the characters straight. So you got me on that one.
However, I did consider many opinions. I read the comments on the review I'm referencing here. I also read some linked favorable reviews. These comments and favorable reviews support my impression that this film is made for a specific audience: people who support the christian nationalist and white savior narratives. So of course people in that target audience think it's a great film.
But it's not my cup of tea. And I can see why folks outside that target audience -- especially Chicano folks -- could find this film misleading, promoting of harmful stereotypes, and generally offensive. So even if I didn't have trouble watching movies, I wouldn't spend my time and money watching this film and supporting its racist and christian nationalist messages..
