I didnt see any part of yiur answer highlighted but i understand full well. i know history, there is no need to talk to me like I’m ignorant.

I do not contest your statement the North fought the South, and the slaves were emancipated toward the end of the war. However, most soldiers on both sides were draftees, fighting not for any idealistic reasons but just because they had to. There were a few abolitionists, these faced harsh criminal penalties for their work. If most whites supported abolition as you suggest, why were these laws in place? Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamattion to weaken the South, and was a white supremacist himself.

I agree, there were a few whites who were active in the civil rights movement of the 60s, and we were vilified beaten and killed along with the Black people. If civil rights had majority support then why were the freedom riders called race traitors and treated as such?

There are some white people opposing racism today but there are no where near enough of us. If anti racist whites were in the majority as you suggest then why are Black people still treated as second class citizens even to this day? Why the poor outcomes in health care, education, home ownership, criminal justice, etc? These disparities remain even when controlling-for income.

If most white people were anti racist then why did the majority of us vote for tRump — twice?

if most whites were anti racist then why do our representatives feel secure in passing laws making it harder for Black people to vote?

Have you seen any Karen videos? Do you see any white people calling-in the Karens and telling them to quit acting like such an ugly racist fool? Or any white people interposing themselves between Karen and her target, and making sure the Black person is ok? If the majority of whites were anti racist as you suggest, then why don’t we see these things? Why, instead, do we see the white bystanders in the Karen videos carrying on like business as usual? May I suggest that this is because racism is too ordinary and mundane to ruffle anyone’s feathers? And that’s my point! Racism is so ordinary that most of us white people don’t even see it. And if we don’t see it, how can we oppose it? Have you considered and planned what you would do if you saw a Black or brown person getting harrassed? If so, good! If not, please think about this.

All I’m saying is, we need to believe Black people when they talk about their everyday experiences of racism. We need to see it, because racism hurts everyone.

Finally, I have not told you what you can or can not talk about. I simply said that there’s no need to talk about what, if anything, one is doing to end racism. I said this because opposing racism is about being a decent human being, and bragging is not. But if you want to be a braggart that’s your choice. And if anyone wants to push back at you for bragging that’s their choice. But let’s just say it’s not a good look.

Sorry I can’t post links from this mobile app, but the facts are out there. Please google what percent of whites supported abolition, what percent supported civil rights, what percent believe racism is still a problem today. Please google Lincoln white supremacist. Please look at some Karen videos and see what the white bystanders are doing. Please look up measures of systemic racism today. Please read some Black writers here in Medium. Please educate yourself. Thank you.
