I agree, change the name.

Having grown up in the South, I know of how Black people are compared with monkeys, and I agree, this is disgusting and wrong. And having seen how Asian people (and anyone who looks Asian, even if they are actually Chicano or Indigenous American) have been targeted with hate crimes over COVID, I know how cruel and ignorant some people can be. So the name for this new health threat could well open the way for more hate crimes against Black people, and probably already has.

I'm sorry to admit that I was under the impression that so-called monkeypox originated in Africa, thanks for this correction. Now I got to go find out where it originated and what would be a better name, and start using that name.

So yes -- change the name!
