Great message!
I feel you, even tho I'm generally perceived as white. From what I've seen, de-melanated folks who are marginalized in other ways (queer, disabled, neurodivergent, religious / cultural minorities, etc) can somewhat understand racial oppression by analogy with our own struggles. Try talking to a white cis het christian male, though, and in most cases, you may as well be talking to a rock.
I see folks on the other side of the aisle accusing progressives of being splintered up among various aggrieved folks, too busy playing Oppression Olympics to see each other and push together. That's what they say, and that's what they hope. Unfortunately, there is some of this going on, especially among the newbies. However, I also see a growing trend of various marginalized peoples pulling together, often with Black folks in the lead.
I support this trend and hope it continues to grow. The white cis het male minority has been in control for far too long. They have repeatedly shown that they are only in it for themselves, to enrich themselves and hold on to power no matter how it hurts the rest of us. As Buffy St. Marie said in "Priests of the Golden Bull" -- they brought a bomb wrapped in business cards, and they're turning our world into pocket change.
If Dr. West makes it onto the ballot, he has my vote. Be well and stay strong my friend!
