As I see it, we need to look at race in order to undo racism. If we didn't think in terms of race, how could we address racial disparities in health care, home ownership, the so-called justice system, education, -policing, etc?
And how would that work in activist circles, where people who look "white" are cautioned to take supportive rather than leadership roles? This is a push-back against some white people's tendency to grab the spotlight / mic and leave everyone else at the sidelines. (I've seen some people who look whiter than me claim to be Black in this context, they mostly get laughed at and ignored.)
Are you in the USA? If so, what do you do about filling out forms and answering the question about race? Do they come behind you and change your answer to what you look like?
