1920 - 1960? Really?
What's so great about Jim Crow, lynchings, redlining, destruction of Black business districts, nasty caricatures of Black people in the media, high infant mortality, people getting harsh prison sentences of hard labor for trivial offenses such as not stepping off the sidewalk when a white person approaches, ...?
Academics have to say what their institution wants them to say if they want to keep their jobs. This is especially so in the liberal arts and social sciences, where sloppy use of data is the order of the day. And I'm in academia myself, albeit in the STEM field, where sloppiness is not tolerated as much.
So when a Black academic says things that support white supremacy, take it with a grain of salt. Make that a big block of salt like the kind that ranchers put out for the horses and cattle.
